Big HAWK , real name John Edward Hawkins (born November 15, 1969 in Houston , Texas , † May 1, 2006 ibid), was an American rapper and member of the rap collective Screwed Up Click .

biography

Big HAWK became known beyond the Houston underground rap scene and was a member of the Screwed Up Click founded by DJ Screw . Guest appearances (features) on various mix tapes by rappers such as Paul Wall , Lil 'Flip , Z-Ro , ESG , Lil' Keke and Big Pokey increased his level of awareness. Big Hawk was best known for his feature on Lil'Troy’s hit single “Wanna Be A Baller”. In 2000 he released his solo album, which was released under the title Under Hawk's Wings . After DJ Screw's death in November 2000, Big HAWK was primarily responsible for the continuation of the Screwed Up Click and keeping DJ Screw's legacy alive, which is why he was reverently named the five-star general of the Screwed Up Click .

Hawk was shot dead on May 1, 2006. No witnesses could be found for the crime. His younger brother Fat Pat , also a member of the Screwed Up Click, had also been shot eight years earlier. The rapper's funeral took place on May 8, 2006.
