Big Pete Pearson

Lewis Paul Pearson (born October 4, 1936 in Kingston , Jamaica ), better known as Big Pete Pearson , is an African American blues singer, guitarist and bassist.

biography

Big Pete Pearson grew up in a religious environment with his grandparents near Austin , Texas . He made his first appearance in a bar when he was 9 years old. He played regularly in the juke joints in the area.

In the 1950s, Big Pete came to Phoenix , where he was known as "Arizona's King of the Blues". In 1995 he was inducted into the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame. His album I'm Here Baby was named “Best Blues Album of the Year” at the 2007 Independent Music Awards.

While he appears in the USA with his band "The Big Pete Blues Band", "The Gamblers" ("Big Pete Pearson and the Gamblers") accompany him on his frequent engagements in Europe.

Throughout his long career, Big Pete has worked with numerous greats in the blues including BB King , Muddy Waters , John Lee Hooker , Big Joe Turner , Koko Taylor , Big Mama Thornton , Buddy Guy , to name a few.
