The Big Sandy River (also: Big Sandy Creek or Sandy Creek ) is an approximately 100 km long tributary of the Green River in Wyoming .
It rises in the east of Sublette County on the continental divide in the Wind River Range , directly below the 4021 m high Wind River Peak in an area called the Bridger Wilderness Area . The direction of the river is essentially southwest. Halfway through the village of Farson , the river to Big Sandy Reservoir is dammed. A little further downstream, at Eden , it takes on its largest tributary, Little Sandy Creek . In the west of Sweetwater County the river finally flows into the Green River, a tributary of the Colorado River .
