Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill is an American restaurant chain with twelve franchise offices in Texas and one each in North Carolina and Oklahoma . It is known for its scantily clad waitresses whose uniforms under the slogan "Sports with a View" from the eponymous bikini tops , cowboy boots and tight-fitting jeans - shorts are made. The chain has the name Breastaurant protected as a registered trademark . As a public relations measure for the press, she bought the abandoned town of Bankersmith , Texas and changed its name to "Bikinis, Texas".

Founder Doug Guller said the idea for Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill came to him in 2001 while on vacation in Australia when a handsome waitress brought him a beer while watching a rugby match televised. Guller said to himself that a combination of sport, beer and sex appeal had to be extremely crisis-proof. He opened his first restaurant in Austin , Texas in 2006 .

Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill deployed an effective marketing campaign that consisted of high-profile publicity stunts and unusual press releases. Though Forbes Magazine often speaks out against the use of press campaigns, it admired the way bikinis attracted press and social media attention:

Guller bought the Texas ghost town of Bankersmith in 2012 and announced that he would rename the deserted place to "Bikinis, Texas" after his restaurant chain. He said he wanted to turn the small place into a tourist attraction, including a hall of fame for the bikini . There are no plans to open a Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill restaurant there, but he could imagine setting up a bar on an old bus.

The opening ceremony of Bikinis, Texas took place on July 13, 2013. Country musician Jerry Jeff Walker sang, and Carmen Electra opened the Hall of Fame. There are also plans for a Miss Bikinis USA beauty pageant and possibly a reality show .

Protected trademark "Breastaurant"

In September 2011, Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill applied for trademark protection to the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the term “Breastaurant” - a case word made up of breast and restaurant . In October 2012 the word was registered as a Registered Trade Mark , although it had previously been used colloquially for other restaurant chains of a similar type (such as Hooters ). The Huffington Post suggested that the issuance of the trademark rights may have been a consequence of the increase in sales during the boom in the early 2010s.
