Wayside shrine at Alte Ludwigsstädter Strasse 4

The wayside shrine in the front garden of the property at Alte Ludwigsstädter Straße 4 in the Upper Franconian town of Kronach is a small monument that was created in the 15th or 16th century.

The group consisting of sandstone made Gothic image floor consists of an octagonal shaft , resting on a flat, bevelled base. The upper end of the shaft is formed by a pointed, gable-shaped attachment into which a likewise gable-shaped niche is embedded. There is a seated Mother of God with the baby Jesus on her lap.

The wayside shrine, which is under monument protection , was originally located a little further north on Alte Ludwigsstädter Straße and was only subsequently moved to its current location.
