The wayside shrine near the property at Alte Ludwigsstädter Straße 5 in the Upper Franconian town of Kronach is a small monument that was created in the 18th century.
The wayside shrine made of sandstone rests on a convex-concave base, which is marked on the west side with the year 1775 and the initials "VB"; There is a house sign between the two letters . A subdivided shaft rises above the base , the four sides of which are fielded and decorated with banding . There are reliefs on the four sides of the top : the west side shows a representation of the coronation of Mary , on the north side there is Saint Nicholas , on the east side Saint Ottilie and on the south side Saint Margaret . The upper end of the essay is formed by drawn-in round arches with inlaid decorations.
The upper part of the shaft, which tapers towards the top, is no longer preserved in the original; it was destroyed in a fall and replaced in the 1960s by a true-to-style replica by the Kronach sculptor Heinrich Schreiber. The wayside shrine is now protected as a monument .
