William "Bill" Adams (born November 3, 1902 in Tynemouth , † March 15, 1963 in Southampton ) was an English football player . The right runner played for Southampton FC for most of his career .

Career

Adams played in the 1925/26 season at Guildford United in the Southern League before moving to the second division club Southampton FC. After his league debut for the Saints in August 1927, it was three years before the next consideration. Adams developed into a regular player in the following years and was captain from the 1931/32 season. After more than 200 competitive games in Southampton FC, Adams moved to league rivals West Ham United in the summer of 1936 for £ 500 . Although he met on his debut for West Ham against his old club Southampton, his stay there was short-lived and in January 1937 he moved to the Three South division of Southend United , where he let his career end.

Following his career, he ran the Half Way Inn in Chandler's Ford , Eastleigh until his death in March 1963 .
