William Edward "Bill" Bann (born August 15, 1902 in Broxburn , † March 16, 1973 in Haringey , London ) was a Scottish football player .

Career

Bill Bann was brought to London at White Hart Lane in February 1923 by Peter McWilliam , coach of Tottenham Hotspur , from the Scottish second division club Broxburn United . There it was a year before he played for the first time for the professional team in a friendly against Chelsea at the side of Matt Forster . For his competitive debut in the First Division , Bann came on March 25, 1926 as a replacement for Tommy Clay in a 1-0 home win against Newcastle United . Bann also completed the following seven game days until the end of the season in defense at Forster's side. After relegation to the Second Division , he came to four more league appearances in the 1928/29 season. After originally there was no longer any interest on the part of the club in a further commitment in May 1929 and he received approval, he was committed again for the 1929/30 season. Until his final departure in the summer of 1930, however, Bann was not used again.

The defender continued his career in the Third Division South at Brentford FC , for which he appeared sporadically in the professional team and won the championship of the London Combination in 1931/32 with the reserve team. He then played for one season with league rivals Bristol Rovers , where he represented his compatriot Alec Donald in his only league use, a 2-2 draw against Newport County . The conclusion of his football career in the Football League , he spent at FC Aldershot , also playing in the third-tier southern season , for which he played seven league games in 1933/34.
