Bill Kenwright

Bill Kenwright CBE (born September 4, 1945 in Liverpool ) is a British theater producer and film producer .

life and career

Kenwright worked as an actor in various groups during his school days at The Liverpool Institute High School for Boys . His first role was that of Shylock in Shakespeare - Comedy The Merchant of Venice in the local school theater. Kenwright had his first major role as a serial actor as Gordon Clegg in the British soap opera Coronation Street from 1968 to 1969.

Today Kenwright works as a producer in the London West End theater scene. For the theater he produced the plays Blood Brothers and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat . The Englishman also produced for the Palace Theater and Broadway (plays such as Jesus Christ Superstar or This is Elvis ). Lately he attracted attention when he was able to have the musical Cabaret performed again in London as a producer . In 2000 he was awarded a Medal for the British Empire for his services in film and theater . In 2004 he became president of the football club Everton FC . Since 2007 he has also owned a basketball club , the Everton Tigers. Kenwright is currently dating the British actress Jenny Seagrove .

Music

Kenwright has had his own record company since February 2008, which runs under the name "Bill Kenwright Records". In addition to the London Palladium cast recording of Scrooge (with Tommy Steele ) and the 2006 Lyric Theater Recording of Cabaret, Kenwright's new boy band Dream On recorded the debut album in February 2008 .

In January 2008, Dream on was founded - five runners-up by BBC Any Dream Will Do - Craig Chalmers, Lewis Bradley, Chris Crosby, Chris Barton and Antony Hansen.

As a young man he became an actor . His early successes included a role on Coronation Street as Gordon Clegg, introduced in April 1968. Kenwright left the show after a year to continue his production career in March 1969, though he made occasional guest appearances in the '70s.

Since 1997 he has directed the Theater Royal in Windsor.
