Hermann Josef Russe (born September 17, 1922 in Bochum ; † February 18, 2008 in Hürth ) was a German economist and politician ( CDU ). From 1965 to 1980 he was a member of the German Bundestag .

Life and work

After attending elementary school and graduating from high school in 1941, Russe was drafted into the Wehrmacht and then took part in the Second World War as a soldier until 1945 . After the end of the war he worked underground in mining. In 1948 he began to study law and economics and social sciences at the University of Cologne , which he graduated with a degree in economics. During the semester break and after the state examination, he worked for a total of two years as legal protection and social security secretary at the DGB in North Rhine-Westphalia . He had already joined the DGB in 1948; he was a member of IG Bergbau und Energie . Russe was also a member of the Catholic student corporation Sevia Cologne in the KV .

Russe worked from 1950 to 1955 as a lecturer at the DGB trade union seminar in Bochum for economics and labor law. From October 1952 he worked as an education officer at the CDA social committees, acted as their chief executive from 1963 to 1966 and later became their treasurer. From January 1966 to 1985 Russe was a member of the board of VEBA AG . He was also chairman of the supervisory board of VEBA housing company Gladbeck-Brauck , Westfälische Wohnstätten AG Bochum and the non-profit housing company Datteln . He was a member of the supervisory boards of Hugo Stinnes AG , HDI and the development company Wulfen .

After the end of the war, Russe was one of the founders of the CDU and the Junge Union in Bochum. From 1945 he worked in the CDA social committees and in 1946 became spokesman for the JU Bochum. Later he was a member of the CDU federal executive board and deputy chairman of the Federal Economic Committee of the Christian Democrats.

From 1958 to 1966 he was a member of the Economic and Social Committee of the EEC and EURATOM as a DGB representative .

Russian was a member of the German Bundestag from 1965 to 1980. He was always drawn into parliament via the CDU state list in North Rhine-Westphalia. In the Bundestag he was a member of the Committee for Economic and SME Issues from 1965 to 1969, then a member of the Economic Committee until 1980.
