Bill Moggridge

William (Bill) Moggridge (born June 25, 1943 - † September 8, 2012 ), British industrial and interaction designer , was co-founder of IDEO , which executives voted for one of the most innovative companies in the world. Since 2010 he has been director of the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York.

Career

Bill Moggridge designed what can be described as the world's first laptop , the GRiD Compass 1100 . He is a pioneer of interaction design and one of the first to incorporate human factors into the design of software and hardware . Moggridge was Visiting Professor of Interaction Design at the Royal College of Art in London, Lecturer in Design at the London Business School and Board Member of the Interaction Design Institute in Ivrea, Italy. He was u. a. Consulting Associate Professor of Design at Stanford University .

Awards

Bill Moggridge received a red dot design award in 1996 as head of the design team of the year (IDEO).

In April 2009, the Cooper Hewitt Museum honored him with the US National Design Award for lifetime achievement. On November 9, 2010, he was awarded the Prince Philip Designers Prize .
