Willis Stuart "Bill" Olson (born January 3, 1930 in Eau Claire ) is a former American ski jumper .

Career

Olson started skiing as a child. With increasing professionalism he also started on the big hills in North America. In 1950 he set a new North American record. He was then accepted into the US roster for international jumping of the International Ski Federation . At the Olympic Winter Games in Oslo in 1952 , he jumped to 22nd place in individual jumping. From 1954 to 1965 he was NCAA Master for the University of Denver . In Cortina d'Ampezzo at the 1956 Winter Olympics , he jumped to 43rd place.

At the 1958 US Championships on the Pine Mountain Jump in Iron Mountain , Olson won his first and only national title.

In 1965 he left the national team and started the same year in so-called Masters or Veteran jumping. He won the title in 1965, 1966 and 1968. In 1972 he was inducted into the National Ski Hall of Fame .
