William Harrison "Bill" White, III (born December 6, 1959 in Chicago , Illinois ) is a former American bobsleigh athlete .
White was already active in athletics and football at Wasson High School in Colorado Springs . At the University of Northern Colorado he competed in the sprint, achieved a personal best of 10.65 seconds over 100 meters. He was named the Athletics MVP by the North Central Conference for three consecutive years . Because of his achievements, he was accepted into the US bobsleigh team. Together with Brent Rushlaw , Hal Hoye and Mike Wasko , he took part in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , Canada . In the four-man bobsleigh, they finished fourth, 0.02 seconds behind the Soviet Union team in third.
White was with the US Air Force based at Hanscom Field Airport in Massachusetts .
