Hal Andrew Hoye (born September 18, 1957 in Jacksonville , Florida ) is a retired American bobsleigh athlete .

Hoye attended Franklin High School in Upstate New York , where he competed in football , wrestling and athletics . After graduating, he switched to bobsleigh. In 1983 he entered the World Championships in Lake Placid . A year later he qualified for the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo . With his teammates Jeff Jost , Joseph Briski and Thomas Barnes , he finished fifth in the four-man bobsleigh. At his second Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988 , he finished fourth with Brent Rushlaw , Michael Wasko and William White .

Hoye worked as a police officer in Franklin County , New York .
