Billie Ray Martin
Billie Ray Martin (* 1970 in Hamburg as Birgit Dieckmann ) is a German soul singer.
Career
The singer grew up in Hamburg and then lived in Berlin and London . Musically it was shaped by soul and industrial . In the mid-80s she first drew attention to herself in the Berlin club scene with her soul formation Billie and the Deep . From 1987 she became known in England, first as a guest of S'Express , then as the lead singer of the techno group Electribe 101 . With Electribe 101, the singer also had smaller hits in the USA, including Talking with Myself .
Finally, Billie Ray Martin began a solo career, always somewhere between soul, pop and electronic music . After several EPs , their first album Deadline for My Memories was released in 1995 . The single Your Loving Arms was a great international success and reached the top of the American club charts. The successors Running Around Town and Imitation of Life were also successful. In 1999 she returned with the EP Crimes & Punishment . Since the early 2000s, the singer has released a number of other albums in self-production; In 2003 and 2007 you got two more dance hits with Honey '03 and Undisco Me .
