Billy MacKinnon ( 1852 - May 24, 1942 ) was a Scottish football player . The Scottish international MacKinnon, who was used in the storm, was considered a brilliant dribbler in the 1870s of the early days of football.
Career
Billy MacKinnon played in his active career from 1872 to 1879 for the Scottish club FC Queen's Park, the oldest football club in Scotland, which was founded on July 9, 1867. With the club he was able to win this with the team at the first edition of the Scottish Cup in 1873/74 . In the following year 1874/75 the title in Hampden Park was successfully defended against FC Renton . MacKinnon, Angus MacKinnon (not related) and Thomas Highet were able to register as goalscorers in the 3-0 final victory . MacKinnon won the last title with the Spiders at the third edition of the competition in 1875/76 .
MacKinnon's first international match was to be the first for the Scottish national football team and the first official international match in football history . The game between Scotland and England was played on November 30, 1872 on Hamilton Crescent in what is now Partick, part of Glasgow. The game, which around 3,000 spectators watched, ended 0-0. The Scottish team consisted exclusively of players from Queen's Park FC . In his 9 international matches that he completed by the end of his career in 1879, including eight games against England and one against Wales , MacKinnon was able to score five goals.
