Rainer Binder-Krieglstein (* 1966 ) is an Austrian musician from Graz who appears under the name Binder & Krieglstein , which should suggest that it is a duo. His musical oeuvre is influenced by jazz , funk , soul and pop and stylistically mostly represents a mixture of dub , electronic and folk , which are reproduced in electronic downtempo beats and rhythms.

His albums therefore always contain very different pieces of music, some of which also include singing, for which he works with different singers. Even for the musical design itself, which is mostly done on the computer, we occasionally work with other producers and DJs , who influence and enrich the musical result of an album accordingly. At concerts he initially played drums with the singer Makki ( Daniela Riedl ), the violinist Kurt Bauer and Michael Bergbaur on the trombone and tuba, recently in a quartet with Bergbaur and the two singers Christiana Nwosu and Nora Winkler.

biography

Before Rainer Binder-Krieglstein started his solo career, he was the drummer with the Viennese downtempo pop band Toxic Lounge , the industrial rock band Fetish 69 , the melodic noise combo Sans Secours and various jazz bands. In 2002 he began his solo career with the release of his first album, International . Like the follow-up album Trip , published in 2004, it was released on Zeiger Records , a young record label for alternative electronic music from Graz . Trip includes one of the most famous tracks on this album, Everything Lost , also the eponymous track for the next album.

For the first time, his album Alles Lost was not produced by himself, but by the German musician and producer Shantel and his Essay Recordings , which means that the result is more straightforward and has less of a lo-fi aesthetic. It includes the track Spit sung by Makki and Uwe Bubik, with a Dadaistic touch of text , the track Everything lost (the distinctive voice comes from Rainer von Many ), as well as the Polman Reisen -Cover Piraten (based on the original would-be pirates ), which was written by the Singer Gustav is sung. The track also appeared on FM4 Soundselection No. 15. On Shantel's initiative, the tracks We don't know and Monkey Disco , which had already been released on previous albums, were also released on the new album because they were successful in Austria and are now also available in Germany should be.

In 2004 he took 2nd place in the protest song contest with everything lost , in 2006 and 2011 he also served as a juror at this event and in 2010 won 6th place with the song "Fahrradfahr'n ist schadstoffarm", in 2009 co-produced with the singer Rosa.

In 2007, We Don't Know was used in the US TV series Dexter ( Showtime : Season 2 - Episode 2 - Waiting To Exhale ), but it was played by Sporto .
