Bindeshwari Dubey ( Hindi : बिंदेश्वरी दुबे ; Marathi : बिंदेश्वरी दुबे ; * February 14, 1921 in Mahuaon, Bhojpur District , Bihar and Orissa Province, British India , today: Bihar ; † January 20, 1993 in Madras , Tamil Nadu ) was a Indian politician of the Indian National Congress (INC), who was Chief Minister of Bihar from 1985 to 1988 and also a member of the Rajya Sabha and a member of the Lok Sabha . In the Rajiv Gandhi cabinet he was first Minister of Justice in 1988 and then Minister of Labor from 1988 to 1989.

Life

Bindeshwari Dubey, son of Shri Sheo Naresh Dubey, was involved in the independence movement, in which other later Chief Ministers of Bihar such as Abdul Ghafoor , Bhagwat Jha Azad , Chandra Shekhar Singh , Satyendra Narayan Sinha and Kedar Pandey were also active. He became a member of the Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) , the lower house of Bihar State , for the first time in 1952 , and was a member of this until 1957 and again between 1962 and 1977. He was Minister of Education and Minister of Science and Technology in the government of Chief Minister Kedar Pandey from May 28 to June 24, 1973. Between September 25, 1973 and April 18, 1974, he served as Minister of Transport in the government of Chief Minister Abdul Ghafoor. He later served as Minister of Health in the government of Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra from April 11, 1975 to April 30, 1977 .

In the parliamentary elections on January 3 and 6, 1980 Dubey was elected in the Giridih constituency to Bihar as a member of the Lok Sabha , the lower house of the Indian parliament (Bhāratīya saṃsad) . He was a member of this until December 1984 and was then again a member of the Legislative Assembly of Bihar from 1985 to 1988. On March 25, 1985, he replaced his fellow party member Chandra Shekhar Singh as Chief Minister of Bihar and held this office until February 13, 1988, after which he was succeeded by Bhagwat Jha Azad , who also belonged to the INC .

On April 3, 1988 Bindeshwari Dubey became a member of the Rajya Sabha , the upper house of the Indian Parliament, and represented the state of Bihar in this until his death on January 20, 1993. He was temporarily chairman of the INC in Bihar and chairman of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) in this state. As the successor to Fr. Shiv Shankar , he took over the office of Minister of Law and Justice in the Rajiv Gandhi cabinet on February 14, 1988 and held this office until June 25, 1988, after which B. Shankaranand succeeded him. He then became Minister of Labor on June 25, 1988 and held this position until December 1, 1989.

His marriage to Shrimati Sheo Sakhi Devi had a daughter.
