BioEnergie Taufkirchen is a natural wood-fired biomass cogeneration plant in Taufkirchen near Munich , Potzham district.
The system uses the principle of combined heat and power to generate electrical energy, which is fed into the public network, and heat for a local district heating network . The main purchaser of heat is GEWOFAG , a larger purchaser is Phönix-Bad Ottobrunn . The plant recycles around 85,000 t / a of natural wood ( wood chips , green cuttings , bark and waste wood of class A1).
The first combustion and boiler system with a combustion output of 11 MW was put into operation in 2000 (manufacturer: ABB ); a second line with a combustion output of around 20 MW was added in 2003 (manufacturer: Wulff). Both boilers feed the same back pressure steam turbine (manufacturer: KKK ) and the same heating condenser .
The system was at times criticized for exceeding exhaust gas limits.
The operator is planning to add a geothermal heat to the plant and thus create “Germany's first hybrid power plant from biomass and geothermal energy”.
As of December 28, 2018, the Federal Cartel Office examined the takeover of the company by Stadtwerke München (SWM). On June 4, 2019, BioEnergie Taufkirchen was taken over by Stadtwerke München.
