Biot (below) with side crater Biot C ( Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter )

Biot is a small bowl-shaped impact crater in the southern foothills of the Mare Fecunditatis . It is north of the Vallis Snellius and northwest of the Wrottesley crater .

The edge of Biot is almost circular and the sharp-edged crater rim shows only minor traces of erosion . The inner crater walls drop evenly onto a relatively small crater floor. They have a higher albedo than the surrounding mare, which gives them a light appearance.

In the classification of non-eroded and overmolded craters formulated and applied by Charles A. Wood and Leif Andersson in 1978, Biot is the type specimen for the shape of bowl-shaped craters with a clearly separated bottom, designated BIO.
