Biramitrapur (also Birmitrapur ) is a city in the east Indian state of Odisha .
Biramitrapur is located 20 km northwest of Rourkela in the Sundargarh district . The national highway NH 23 (Rourkela - Ranchi ) runs through the city. There is a rail link from Biramitrapur to Rourkela.
There are several limestone quarries in the vicinity of Biramitrapur .
The city has the status of a municipality and is divided into 11 wards . At the 2011 census, Biramitrapur had 33,442 inhabitants.
