Birger Rostrup Wilcke

Birger Rostrup Wilcke (born July 31, 1923 in Frederiksberg ; † July 24, 1993 ) was a Danish lawyer and author of numerous books and writings on the railway system in Denmark.

Life

Wilcke attended the Sct. Jørgens Gymnasium in Copenhagen and in 1947, after studying law at the University of Copenhagen, did his doctorate as Cand . jur. for which he received an award from the law school. After study trips to France , England and India he was secretary from 1948 to 1956 and from 1959 to 1959 agent in the Justitsministeriet .

After his appointment as a judge at the Vestre Landsret ( German  roughly regional court ) in Jutland from 1959 to 1960 he was a political advocate ( German  police attorney - similar to the tasks of a German public prosecutor ) until 1974 . He was then appointed as a judge at the Østre Landsret in Jutland. In 1976 he got the post of Politimester (head of one of the 54 Danish police districts) in Tårnby .

From 1964 to 1976 Wilcke was a member of the board of the Foreningen af ​​Politiadvokater ( German  association of police attorneys ), from 1971 to 1976 its chairman. From 1972 to 1976 he was a member of the Københavns politis Kredsudvalg .

After his death he was buried on Frederiksberg Ældre Kirkegård .

Railway activities

Wilcke was elected on January 15, 1961 at the founding meeting of the Dansk Jernbane-Klub as vice chairman. At the first ordinary general meeting in April 1961 he was chairman of the association and held this office until 1991. He was also chairman of the association Museumsbanen Maribo-Bandholm . Between 1962 and his death, Wilcke wrote numerous articles on the history of the Danish railways, which appeared in many publications and in his own books.
