Maribo – Bandholm Museum Railway
The Museum Railway Maribo – Bandholm ( Danish Museumsbanen Maribo-Bandholm ) is a museum railway that runs on the Maribo – Bandholm railway on the Danish island of Lolland . It is the oldest museum railway in Denmark (founded in 1962); Railway systems and vehicles are maintained by members of the Danish Railway Club ( Danish Dansk Jernbane-Klub ).
Driving operation
The train runs during the summer timetable moderately on several days a week several times a day (2010: mid-June to late August, Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday; Maribo from: 10:00, 13:00, 15:00) .
In addition to regular operation, there are some public special trips throughout the year as well as the option of renting a train for a group trip on special occasions.
The railway line runs between Maribo in the center of Lolland and the coastal town of Bandholm in the north of the island. The historic station in Bandholm (built in 1869, 54 ° 50 ′ 8.5 ″ N , 11 ° 28 ′ 55.3 ″ E ) is the seat of the museum railway operations office; the locomotive and wagon sheds are in Maribo ( 54 ° 46 ′ 42.5 ″ N , 11 ° 30 ′ 37.1 ″ E ). Particularly in the area of the Maribo train station, some of the Lollandsbanen railway systems are also used.
Vehicle fleet
In 2010, the railway had five roadworthy historic locomotives , including two steam locomotives and three diesel locomotives , as well as two diesel railcars and around 15 historic wagons . In addition to these vehicles, there are a number of other locomotives and wagons that are being renovated and that are to be made roadworthy in the foreseeable future.
