Birgit Großhennig (born February 21, 1965 in Blankenburg ) is a former German athlete .

She took part in the Junior European Championships in 1981 and 1983 and finished fourth in the high jump in 1981 with 1.84 m and 1983 with 1.85 m . Her personal best in the high jump is 1.88 m from 1981.

On June 9, 1984 Birgit Großhennig jumped 7.00 m in the long jump . With this width, she is still in seventh place on the all-time German best list today (as of June 2019) and is one of the 71 jumpers who have exceeded the 7-meter mark to date (as of November 29, 2016).

It started for Lok Blankenburg and SC Magdeburg . In the documents on state doping in the GDR that became public after the fall of the Wall , the name of Großhennig was found among the doped athletes.
