Birgit Küstner

Birgit Küstner (born Birgit Beismann ; born May 25, 1950 in Lauenburg / Elbe ) is a civil servant in the public service and a former politician ( SPD ).

Life

Birgit Küstner was born in Lauenburg. In 1969 she passed the High School in Lauenburg and then graduated to 1972 training as an official of the higher service in Hamburg . After completing her training, she worked in the Senate Chancellery and in the State Archives of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg until 1982 . In 1986 she joined the SPD. From 1982 to 1988 she was chairman of the staff council at the senate offices, after which she headed the citizens' office in the senate chancellery until 1992 .

In the state elections on April 5, 1992, she received the direct mandate in the Lauenburg-Süd state electoral district with 47.4 percent of the votes cast and was elected to the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein ; she took a leave of absence from her work in the public service . During the legislative period she was a member of the Economic and Social Committee and was a member of the Enquête Commission to improve the efficiency of public administration.

In the election on March 24, 1996, she won the direct mandate again, this time with 41.6 percent of the vote. She was again a member of the Social Committee and a member or alternate member of the Economic Committee. She was also the European Affairs Committee and substitute member of the justice and home affairs committee and 1999/2000 of 1998-2000 Member Pallas - committee .

From 1993 to 2000 she was a member of the Judges' Election Committee , having previously been a deputy member.

After leaving the state parliament in 2000, she returned to the public service of the Hanseatic City of Hamburg. There she is in the Senate Chancellery in the International Cooperation department responsible for Baltic Sea policy and Baltic Sea coordination.
