Birgit Ulrike Münch

Birgit Ulrike Münch (* 1975 ) is a German art historian .

Life

From 1995 to 1997 she studied at the University of Heidelberg (art history, history, political science and sociology), from 1997 to 1998 at the Sorbonne Université (art history, medieval history) and from 1999 to 2003 at the Free University of Berlin (art history and history as well as Middle Latin philology as a guest student), Magistra artium 2003, Institute for Art History of the Free University of Berlin: “The Speculum passionis by Ulrich Pinder . A book of edification in pre-Reformation Nuremberg with woodcuts from the first Dürer workshop ”, grade:“ very good ”. From 2003 to 2004 she was a research assistant in the Heidelberg department for European art history. From 2004 to 2005 she was a research assistant at the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , Munich. She completed a doctoral degree in art history and history from 2004 to 2007 at the University of Munich and Trier University . From 2005 to 2010 she was a research assistant in Trier at the Chair of Art History ( Andreas Tacke ). After receiving his doctorate in 2007 as Dr. phil. at the University of Trier in the subject of art history (Suffering shared: The Passion of Christ in images and text of confessionalization. From the Reformation to the major Jesuit projects around 1600 [German as well as North and South Dutch prints], supervisor: Andreas Tacke. Overall rating “summa cum laude ”) from June 2010 she was a retired Academic Councilor . Z., University of Trier (at Andreas Tacke's chair for art history). In November 2015 she did research at the University of Oxford ( Oriel College ) as part of a multi-week mobility grant, hosted by Lyndal Roper (History Department). In the summer semester of 2016, she represented the Chair for Medieval and Modern Art History, Jürgen Müller at the TU Dresden . After her habilitation in 2016 ( Venia legendi for general art history) at the University of Trier on alternative art audiences in France and the Netherlands from 1450 to around 1815, submitted in November 2015 at the University of Trier, she has been teaching since October 2016 as a W2 professor with a focus on Dutch art history at the University of Bonn .

Her main research interests are Flemish, Dutch, German and French painting and printmaking 15-18. Century, genesis of genre painting and its reception in the history of science, visualization of proverbs and phraseologisms, image-text strategies, art and denominationalization, grave sculpture 15th – 19th centuries. Century, artist's social history, spaces of the art public (s) before and after the Enlightenment and art forms of illness (especially syphilis), emotion and fear.
