Peter Rome

Peter Rom (* 1972 in Vienna ) is an Austrian jazz musician ( guitar , composition ).

Rome studied at the Conservatory of the City of Vienna and with Mick Goodrick at the Berklee College of Music . He initially ran his own trio (with Jörg Mikula and Raphael Preuschl ). In 2004 he was one of the founders of the JazzWerkstatt Wien collective , of which he is still a member today. Since 2009 he has accompanied the Wiener-Lied-Duo Strottern with other musicians from the JazzWerkstatt Wien , first heard on the album Elegant , but also on the album Wo fangts an (2015). In an unusual line-up (trumpet: Martin Eberle , hurdy-gurdy and vocals: Matthias Loibner , zither : Christof Dienz and himself on guitar) he appears in the ensemble Wiener Brille .

He also worked with Rodney Holmes, Max Nagl , Dorian Concept , Vincent Pongracz / Renee Benson, Julian Sartorius , Manu Mayr, the Klangforum Wien and the Wiener Symphoniker . In the trio with Andreas Schaerer and Martin Eberle, he toured Europe several times and released the two albums Please Don't Feed the Model and At the Age of Six I Wanted to Be a Cook on Unit Records in 2011 . In the Travel Image project with Clemens Salesny he dealt intensively with compositions by Joe Zawinul ; he can also be heard on the album of Salesnys Electric Band and on albums by Gerd Hermann Ortler , Studio Dan / Elliott Sharp and the Synesthetic Octet . In 2020 the album Synesthetic4: Pickedem , which he presented with Manuel Mayr, Andreas Lettner and Vincent Pongracz, made it onto the quarterly best list of the German Record Critics' Award .
