Clemens Salesny
Clemens Salesny (born May 15, 1980 in Scheibbs , Lower Austria) is an Austrian saxophonist and clarinetist .
life and work
From 1998 to 2005 Salesny studied saxophone at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Klaus Dickbauer and Wolfgang Puschnig . From 2000 to 2005 there was a collaboration with Bumi Fian ; he also formed a duo with the pianist Clemens Wenger . He also played in a quartet with the vibraphonist Woody Schabata , the double bass player Raphael Preuschl and the trumpeter / flugelhornist Herbert Joos .
In 2004 he was one of the initiators of the JazzWerkstatt Wien . Salesny also worked with Steven Bernstein , Joe Zawinul , Oliver Lake , Sunny Murray , Fritz Novotny , Harry Pepl , Christian Mühlbacher's Nouvelle Cuisine , Uli Scherer , Flip Philipp , Georg Breinschmids Mingus Project, Renald Deppe & die Wachauer Pestbläser, Concert Jazz Orchestra Vienna , Gansch and Roses , Wolfgang Reisinger , Andy Manndorff , Peter Herbert , Wolfgang Mitterer , Armin Pokorn, Jean-Paul Bourelly , Dick Griffin , Denis Colin Trio , Sabina Hank Orchestra , Takon Orchester , Vincent Pongracz or Bodo Hell .
Salesny lives in Vienna .
Prizes and awards
In 2001 Salesny received the New York Scholarship of the Hans Koller Prize . At the “Austrian Young Lions” jazz competition in 2002, he came second. In 2005 he was awarded the "The Austrian Sound of Music" award from the BMAA. In 2006 he received the prestigious Hans Koller Prize as Newcomer of the Year with the “JazzWerkstatt Wien”. He received the Harry Pepl Prize in 2013.
