Birk Rohelend (born April 17, 1981 in Viljandi ) is an Estonian screenwriter and writer.

Life

Rohelend studied genetic engineering at the University of Tartu and then worked as an aerobic trainer and in an advertising agency. She is currently working as a communications manager in Tallinn . She also writes scripts for television series on a regular basis.

She has been a member of the Estonian Writers' Union since 2011 .

Literary work

Rohelend made her debut in 2007 with a critically acclaimed book about a student whose boyfriend committed suicide and remained true to the subject in her next novel. In her other works, she deals with problems in contemporary Estonian society, often asking about the psychological causes. In the novel My couple-toed friend (2009), the critics saw parallels to Kaur Kender , as the modern advertising and business world is also discussed here. Here, however, comparable to Armin Kõomägi , it is clearly viewed more critically, especially since the first-person narrator's only friend turns out to be an (incurable) cancerous tumor.

In 2016, you must kiss Silva, the first volume of a series of psychological crime novels about the main character Silva Stökel, which is based on several parts.
