Birte Tesch (born November 13, 1976 in Bremen , Germany ) is a former German handball player who was part of the German national team.

Career

Birte Tesch initially played at TSV Osterholz-Tenever , with whose B-youth she took part in the North German Championship in 1991. Later, the cyclist joined the Hastedter TSV . In 1996 she signed the German Bundesliga club TuS Walle Bremen , who hired young talents from the Bremen region for financial reasons. Two years later she moved to the Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund . With Dortmund she won the EHF Challenge Cup in 2003 . For Borussia Dortmund, Tesch played a total of 184 Bundesliga games in which she scored 247 goals. In addition, Tesch ran for the Sandgirls beach handball team, with which she won the German championship several times. From the summer of 2006 she was under contract with the second division PSV Recklinghausen . A year later, Tesch moved to the ASV Hamm club , where she worked as a player-coach.

Birte Tesch appeared 42 times for the German national team. She was also a member of the German national beach handball team. With this selection she took part in the World Games 2005 and won the Beach Handball European Championship a year later .
