Birutė Kalėdienė
Birutė Kalėdienė (born Zalogaitytė ; born November 2, 1934 in Baltrušiai , Šakiai Rajongemeinde ) is a former Lithuanian javelin thrower who competed for the Soviet Union in the late 1950s and early 1960s .
successes
In 1958 she won silver at the European Athletics Championships in Stockholm and set a world record with 57.49 m on October 30 in Tbilisi .
At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 she won the bronze medal and in the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo she was fourth.
After 1966 she worked as a trainer. As a senior athlete, she set several world records, including the current (as of August 29, 2009) in the F75 class (26.21 m, September 3, 2008, Malmö ).
