history

Bischofszell Nahrungsmittel AG

In 1909 David Tobler founded a company for the production of dried fruits and dried products in Bischofszell . In 1914 the company began to manufacture canned peas and condensed milk , and in 1928 it started producing apple concentrate. From 1933 Union Handelsgesellschaft AG from Basel was the owner of the company, in 1945 it was transferred to the Federation of Migros Cooperatives (MGB). Part of the production was outsourced to the newly founded Conserves Estavayer SA (CESA) in 1955 , and from 1957 the production of frozen products was added. In 1966 the production of potato chips began ; BINA's potato products also include french fries and mashed potatoes .

Brik packaging for fruit juices was introduced in 1973, and the production of jams began in the same year . Iced tea in Tetra Brik was available from 1984. With the transformation of CESA into a milk processing company in the 1980s, BINA took over the production of all canned products again. From 1986 chilled ready meals were offered under the label “à la carte” and the range of convenience products was greatly expanded in the following years. The “Anna's Best” brand existed from 1995 as a counterpart to “ Betty Bossi ”. In 1998, BINA put Switzerland's first aseptic beverage bottling plant into operation for its PET - Aseptic line, followed by a vacuum fryer for chips in 2005 and a new cold-asepic filling system in 2006. As part of a growth strategy, BINA took over several companies: Gastina GmbH (2009), Centrale Traiteur (2010), Schweizer Getränke AG (2014) and Sushi Mania (2016). She also founded Bischofszell Food Innovation in 2016 and Menu Casa in 2018.
