Biscoitos is a Portuguese municipality ( freguesia ) in the Praia da Vitória district on the Azores island of Terceira . It has an area of ​​27.1 km² and 1,424 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011), which corresponds to a population density of 52.64 inhabitants per km².

The name of the place is derived from the frequently occurring layer of lava , which has solidified like biscuits stacked on top of one another .

In the village are the wine museum Museu do Vinho dos Biscoitos and the remains of the fortification Forte de São Pedro from the 16th century.
