The house at Bismarckstraße 37 is a building in the Johannesviertel in Darmstadt .
History and description
The free-standing late classicist "country house" at Bismarckstrasse 37 was built in 1864. The house has a simple cubic structure. The smooth, almost undivided wall surfaces are decorated with just a few elements. The middle of the building is accentuated by a delicate baluster balcony on flat relief sandstone consoles .
In 2018 the house received a new facade with a new coat of paint. In addition to an oak and black pine , a willow , linden and an apple tree grow in the garden . Today the building houses, in addition to a doctor's practice on the ground floor, three student apartments on the first floor and the attic.
The other rooms of the building, popularly known as the “city villa”, have been used for parties and events for several years. The house owner is the Darmstadt physiotherapist Sabine Riemenschneider.
Monument protection
A dated foundation stone in the basement of the country house has been preserved. The building is a typical example of the late classicist architectural style in Darmstadt. For architectural and city-historical reasons, the building is a listed building .
