The Diocese of Bhagalpur ( Latin : Dioecesis Bhagalpurensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese in India . It is a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Patna .
history
The diocese was founded on August 3, 1956 as the Apostolic Prefecture of Bhagalpur. On January 11, 1965, the elevation to the diocese took place. The previous Apostolic Prefect Urban Eugen McGarry became the first bishop .
