Bova diocese

The diocese of Bova ( lat. : Dioecesis Bovensis ) was one in Italy located Roman Catholic diocese based in Bova .

history

The diocese of Bova can be traced for the first time in the 11th century in the Byzantine Notitiae episcopatuum among the suffragans of Reggio Calabria. The first known bishop was Lukas von Bova . Until 1574 the diocese of Bova belonged to the Byzantine rite .

On September 30, 1986, the Bova diocese was annexed to the Archdiocese of Reggio Calabria by the Congregation for Bishops with the decree Instantibus votis .

The Cathedral of San Teodoro in Bova was the cathedral of the Bova diocese. The diocese of Bova comprised 14 parishes and was 268 km² in size.
