Bishopric of Saint Papoul
The Diocese of Saint-Papoul ( lat. : Dioecesis Sancti Papuli ) was one in France situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Saint-Papoul .
history
The diocese of Saint-Papoul was on July 11, 1317 by Pope John XXII. Erected with the Papal Bull Salvator noster from cession of territory of the Archdiocese of Toulouse . The first bishop was Bernard de la Tour . The diocese of Saint-Papoul was subordinate to the Archdiocese of Toulouse as a suffragan .
On November 29, 1801, the Diocese of Saint-Papoul was dissolved as a result of the Concordat of 1801 by Pope Pius VII with the Papal Bull Qui Christi Domini and the territory was annexed to the Archdiocese of Toulouse and the Diocese of Carcassonne .
At the beginning of 2009 the old bishopric was opened by Pope Benedict XVI. re-established as the titular bishopric of Saint-Papoul and first granted as a titular seat in April 2016.
