The Biyu Shan ( Chinese 碧玉 山 , Pinyin Bìyù Shān - " Jasper Mountain ") is a 113 meter high mountain on the Fildes Peninsula of King George Island , the largest of the South Shetland Islands . It is located in the very southwest of the peninsula, not far from Fildes Strait , and was named by Chinese scientists who mapped the area in 1986.
The mountain is namesake for a lithostratigraphic unit, which is called Jasper Hill Formation or Jasper Hill Member , depending on the opinion . The Guibei Shan lies further to the southeast .
