In 1997, that could Jet Propulsion Laboratory of NASA Krapohl win for developing the prototype of a microsurgical robot together with the engineers of NASA. In his clinical work, too, he later placed a focus on microsurgery and, in particular, on replanting surgery of the extremities.

As part of his military medical work at the Bundeswehr Hospital in Berlin, he developed a new focus in breast surgery. He demonstrated that one-sided breast growth can be stimulated in guard soldiers by using the carbine attachment.
