Björn Thomas Rohwer (born August 22, 1995 in Rendsburg ) is a German basketball player . He is 2.13 meters tall and plays on the inside position ( center ) and on the grand piano.
Player career
Rohwer went through the youth department of the BBC Rendsburg, starting his basketball career at the age of twelve. In the 2011/12 season he was used for the first time in the men's team of the club in the 2nd regional league. From 2009 to 2011 Rohwer played for the BBC in the youth basketball league and in the 2012/13 season temporarily for the Piraten Hamburg in the youth basketball league .
He was appointed to the squad of the German U18 national team for the European Championship (B group) 2013, which took place in July 2013 in Macedonia and ended with an eleventh place for the Germans. Rohwer scored an average of 3.1 points and 1.6 rebounds in eight European Championship games.
In the 2013/14 season he won the championship title with BBC Rendsburg in the 2nd Regionalliga North-North and was promoted to the 1st Regionalliga North. After his first season in this league (2014/15) he was named "Eurobasket.com All-Regionalliga North Newcomer of the Year" by the basketball internet portal eurobasket.com .
In July 2015, Rohwer's move to Ratiopharm Ulm was announced. He was in the Ulm Bundesliga squad from the 2015/16 season, but was mostly used by the Weißenhorn Youngstars in the 2nd Bundesliga Pro B , for which he was entitled to play thanks to a double license. On October 1, 2015, he made his Bundesliga debut for Ulm in the game against Alba Berlin . In the 2016/17 season he won the ProB championship with Weißenhorn and was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga ProA . He contributed to this success with an average of 9.8 points and 6 rebounds (in 29 missions). After the team was renamed OrangeAcademy, Rohwer scored an average of 10.2 points and 4.9 rebounds in 28 games in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA during the 2017/18 season. However, the class stay in the second division was missed.
In July 2018 he was signed by FC Schalke 04 (promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga ProA). With 8.8 points per game he was Schalke's fourth-best scorer in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA in the 2018/19 season, and he also scored an average of 5.9 rebounds per match. During the summer break of 2020, he agreed on a contract with Bundesliga club SC Rasta Vechta .
