Neteland, who started for Fana IL, contested his first FIS races in November 2006 after reaching the age limit , but initially had no significant successes. It wasn't until February 2010 that he achieved his first victory in an FIS Super-G in Ål , and a year later he won the Norwegian junior championship in giant slalom in Hovden . In the 2010/11 season he started in Trysil twice in the European Cup , but could not classify himself in the points as in his subsequent eleven appearances in this racing series. He achieved this for the first time on November 28, 2012, when he was 27th on the descent on the Reiteralm . In the same winter he was behind Aksel Lund Svindal Norwegian runner-up in the super combined and won the bronze medal in the downhill.
In the following season , Neteland was third in the Crans-Montana super combination for the first time on a European Cup podium and also made his debut in the home races in Kvitfjell in the World Cup , where he clearly missed the points. In 2014/15 Neteland was able to improve further, winning his first European Cup race with the Alpine Combination of Sella Nevea and thus also the discipline ranking in this racing series. In addition, on March 8, 2015 at the Super G in Kvitfjell, he finished 28th in his fifth World Cup appearance for the first time and was the Norwegian giant slalom champion at the end of the winter . In the 2015/16 European Cup season , Neteland won the overall standings with two wins and two third places, and in the end he was two points ahead of Christian Walder .
