Bjarni Eggerts Guðjónsson (born February 26, 1979 in Akranes ) was an Icelandic football player and today's coach.

He started his career at ÍA Akranes in Iceland. In 1997 he moved to Newcastle United for £ 500,000 , but did not make it into the first team and a year later moved to KRC Genk in Belgium, where his brother Thordur also played. In 2000 he moved back to England, where he played for Stoke City from then on . Stoke paid a £ 250,000 transfer fee. In 2003 he moved to VfL Bochum on a free transfer , and played there again with his brother in a team. For Bochum he only made four Bundesliga appearances and was loaned to Coventry City . The following years he spent again in England at Plymouth Argyle , which took him under contract for free. In 2006 he moved back to his hometown club ÍA Akranes and from 2008 to 2013 he played for KR Reykjavík before ending his career there.

National team

He made his debut in a 1997 friendly against Slovakia for Iceland when he was substituted on against Helgi Sigurðsson . He played a total of 20 international matches and scored one goal.

Trainer

In the 2014 season he was the coach of Fram Reykjavík and from 2015 to 2016 at KR Reykjavík . In the second half of the 2017 season he worked as assistant coach for Víkingur Reykjavík and since the beginning of 2018 he has held the same position at KR Reykjavík.
