Bjerke (Oslo)

Bjerke is a northeastern district of the Norwegian capital Oslo . It has 33,422 inhabitants (2020) and a size of 7.7 km². The district is mainly along the Trondheimsveien , which divides the district from Sinsenkrysset in the west to Rødvedt in the east. Along this street is u. a. the Aker hospital, the Bjerkebanen trotting track and the Linderud and Veitvet prefabricated buildings. In the south of the district are numerous shops, u. a. on Østre Aker vei , with the Økern traffic junction in the southwest. Bjerke includes the residential areas Årvoll, Tonsenhagen (one of Oslo's oldest suburbs), Risløkka and Vollebekk.
