The Black Pass is a mountain pass on the Pourquoi-Pas Island off the Fallières coast of West Antarctic Graham Land . It runs 5 km west of Mount Arronax in a northeast-southwest direction.
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named him in 1980 after Stanley Edward Black (1933-1958), meteorological assistant of the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey on Signy Island (1957-1958) and on Horseshoe Island (1958), who worked with meteorologist David Statham (1938–1958) and the mechanic Geoffrey Alfred Stride (1927–1958) died on May 27, 1958 while marching over breaking sea ice between the Dion Islands and Horseshoe Island.
