Black Island is an island in the Ross Archipelago in Antarctica . Before Scott Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land it lies about 2 km west of White Iceland , from it by the White Strait is separated.
Participants in the Discovery Expedition (1901–1904), led by British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott, discovered them and named them after their absence of snow. At the northern tip of the island is the main downlink of the US McMurdo station .
