Blackberry Smoke is an American Southern rock - band from Atlanta , Georgia .

history

Blackberry Smoke was founded as a quartet in Atlanta in 2000, which expanded into a quintet in 2009 with the entry of a permanent keyboardist.

The first two albums, released in 2003 and 2009, are considered only partially successful.

In Europe, the band has been signed to the English label Earache Records , which is particularly known for extreme metal variants, since their third album The Whippoorwill .

The band recorded their fourth album, Holding All the Roses , within two weeks. In the US it reached number one on the Billboard country charts.

The band plays an average of 250 concerts a year.

style

Blackberry Smoke plays Southern Rock in the field of tension between “cowboy kitsch” and “rocky” and is a “radio-friendly, country-heavy variant of Black Stone Cherry , but which is still not completely softened.” In addition, the band gets along “ without redneck malice”.

On the fifth album, in addition to country and rock , “elements from gospel , blues , pop ” can be heard in the sound. On "Like an Arrow", published in 2016, the style developed in the direction of a quieter sound with elements of Americana , funk and soul .
