Blaise Alexandre Desgoffe
Blaise Alexandre Desgoffe (* 17th January 1830 in Paris ; † 2. May 1901 ) was a French still life - painting .
He was the nephew of the painter Alexandre Desgoffe. Blaise Alexandre Desgoffe studied from October 7, 1852 at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris with Hippolyte Flandrin and later with William Bouguereau . After his training as a history painter, he turned to still life painting, in which he developed a great virtuosity that is reminiscent of that of the Dutch masters of the 17th century.
He painted rare and precious ancient art objects, especially the masterpieces of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, which were often borrowed from the Louvre collections . From 1870 he also painted the works of Chinese, Japanese or Greek handicrafts. He exhibited at the Salon de Paris from 1857 to 1882 and won a third class medal in 1861 and a second class medal in 1863. In 1878 he was awarded the Legion of Honor.
