Blake's 7 is a British science fiction television series produced for the BBC from 1978 to 1981 . There are four seasons in total, each with 13 episodes, none of which have yet been seen on German television.

The title character Blake is played by Gareth Thomas. With his team of outlaws, he makes the universe unsafe while the "Federation" is after them. Their leader, Servalan, is a strong and formidable woman who keeps stabbing her allies in the back.

In contrast to other science fiction series, the female protagonists are not only there to be beautiful or to be rescued by male heroes, but each have skills that they bring to the plot, e.g. B. Cally (Jan Chappell), who has psi skills, or Jenna (Sally Knyvette), who is a good pilot.

Remake

In 2008 the British television broadcaster Sky1 planned a remake of the series, but the idea was abandoned in 2010.

The idea of a remake was later taken up by the American television station Syfy , which commissioned a first season of a remake in 2013. The series should consist of thirteen one-hour episodes. The new series was to be written by Joe Pokaski, with Martin Campbell to direct it .

In August 2013 it became known that the IT company Microsoft had taken over the project from Syfy. The series is now being redeveloped by Motion Picture Capital and is to be broadcast on Microsoft's online network Xbox Live . Campbell is still scheduled to direct.
