Glynis Barber , née Glynis van der Riet (born October 25, 1955 in Durban , South Africa ) is a British actress .

Life

Barber grew up in South Africa. She studied acting at the Mountview Academy of Theater Arts in London . She played her first role in 1978 in the horror film Killing House . She subsequently played in various television productions. In 1981, she won the role of Soolin in the BBC - science fiction series Blake's 7 , so she became known for the first time to a wider audience. In 1985 and 1986 she played the leading female role in the crime series Dempsey & Makepeace , which also made her famous in Germany. While filming, she met Michael Brandon , whom she then married in 1989. Between 1991 and 1996 she lived with her husband in the United States , and their son was born there. Between 2006 and 2007 she played a police officer in the British soap opera Emmerdale , and in 2010 and 2011 she played the role of Glenda Mitchell in the television series EastEnders .

Her first marriage was from 1976 to 1979 with the actor Paul Antony Barber .
