Dempsey & Makepeace is a British TV crime series that was broadcast from 1985 to 1986 on ITV and in Germany from 1988 on Bayern 3 and other third-party programs .
The German dubbing was carried out by the dubbing company Elan Film Gierke GmbH, Munich (1st season) and by the dubbing company ARRI Synchron, Munich (from 2nd season), while Niels Clausnitzer, Michael Eder and Manfred Schmelzer were responsible for the dialogue book and the dialogue direction .
action
The main characters of the series, the English policewoman Lady Harriet "Harry" Makepeace and the American policeman James "Jim" Dempsey, who was transferred to London for his own protection , are rather reluctantly obliged to work together as an investigative duo in a special unit. The attraction of the series lies in the contrasts that the investigator duo embodies: It stands for femininity, England and nobility. He stands for macho behavior, USA and working class.
background
The series consists of three seasons of 10 episodes each. Directed by Michael Brandon and William Brayne , the screenplays were written by Jeffrey Caine and Ranald Graham . The actors Glynis Barber and Michael Brandon married in 1989. A German-language DVD set with all episodes and bonus material has meanwhile been released.
